Travels Part 8

It’s been quiet around here but not anywhere else. September had me to Detroit, San Francisco, Napa Valley, Milwaukee between a few lectures and a workshop. I’ve hit the road for October and am making my way down up and around. Today I’m in Richmond and have been visiting with the students at Virginia Commonwealth University. They’ll be subject to a lecture today as well. Then it’s up towards NY for the first US Piece of Cake collective workshop. From there it’s back to Chicago for a short rest before a talk in Marquette, MI followed by a Minneapolis trip (audio books anyone?).

Some highlights so far.

  1. Sleeping in the parking lot outside my hotel room for a very long exposure.
  2. My first ever football game in rural NC. Complete with lots of high school drama.
  3. Knoxville (though not for pictures)
  4. Appalachian Mnts.
  5. Revisiting my skatepark youth with my nephews in NC.
  6. A sneak preview of the North Carolina Museum of Art galleries under construction. When this opens it may just be my favorite museum ever….
  7. A haunted parking lot in Raleigh, NC complete with Lost (TV show) like smoke monster sounds (without the smoke).
  8. Student visit at UNC
  9. Raleigh, NC with Allen Thomas Jr., Jeff Whetstone and David Watson.
  10. Having thousands of volts of electricity conduct through the camera during a half hour exposure under power lines in Richmond.
