I Heart Kasten

Very excited to see my good friend and former teacher Barbara Kasten in a group show that opens this Friday at the Andrea Rosen Gallery in NYC.

Barbara has been one of the fore-runners of conceptual photography since the 1970’s. Her dedication to this practice is apparent as she’s continued her photographic investigations even when it was not fashionable to do so. With the recent resurgence of interest in conceptual photography, it’s nice to see people re-considering Barbara’s work as she was one of the fore-runners of conceptual photography since the 1970’s.

Her most recent work in my opinion is some of the best. More emphasis on light and form while rendered with a quiet photographic precision that simultaneously rejects and embraces the subject itself.
