There Is So Much Going On This Week In NY, I'm Gonna Puke

1. Will Steacy – Will so refreshingly puts the punk rock back in photography. His latest work Mean Streets, may just go for the jugular as Will spent the last year walking from the airports of major US cities to the city center to witness the effects of a culture long neglected. He previews some of this work at the Michael Mazzeo gallery in the group show Art Fair.

2. Juliana Beasley – Juliana’s blown up as of late by digging up some fantastic polaroids from her days as a exotic dancer. Her whirling dervish tornado will appear (in person or pictures) also at the Michael Mazzeo show, the Bridge Art Fair and the release party for Collectors Guide to Emerging Art Photography at the Volta Fair.
3. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will be showcasing work by grads and undergrads at the Bridge Art Fair, including some students of mine (Sara Condo, Casey Mc Gonagle and my current photoshop studio genius helper Kate Roger)
4. A bunch of Art Fairs
5. Justin James Reed will be touring his class around town on Saturday, make sure to heckle him. (Ok you really can’t heckle him too hard since he just brilliantly gave away one of his photographs in high res. for us all! Makes me think that perhaps the reason so much of the FSA photographs are so iconic is that they in most cases were free).
6. Lay Flat magazine really has nothing going on at the fair but the first issue should be out soon and you’d be a fool not to order it.
7. Rhona Hoffman Gallery will be showing a small preview of some prints from my recent work at the Armory Fair which-I-haven’t-really-shown-anyone-but-some-friends-on-my-iphone.
8. You might see Jen Davis around town, but check out her new website first.
9. You’ll surely see Michael Buhler Rose around and if not him, his work, at every fair ?!
10. Openings at Julie Saul Gallery (Julie Evans), Aperture, etc…. I’m tired already.

I agree with Will Steacy’s Mean series. I had seen most of the series and they are quite amazing.

Ditto for Juliana and Michael Buhler-Rose. A lot of great talent.

Brian see you in the city!
Oh and… I am more than puking over here already…without a single drink!
