What's You're Not Reading…

There has been a considerable buzz in the coming weeks to the RNC in St. Paul.
Missing from the national press headlines is a substantial number of violations of human rights as police in the Twin Cities are raiding homes, arresting protesters, confiscating-destroying cameras and generally provoking anything in their path (see this video of a young woman pepper sprayed at close range). Last night 284 people were arrested and will be charged.
You can find out news from the streets as written by buddy Paul Schmelzer who is reporting for his blog, Eyeteeeth and the Minnesota Independent. Also nice to see art enthusiasts and activists Barry and James writing about the RNC protests. Add Jim Johnson (Notes on Politics, Theory and Photography) to the mix.
And finally for as-close-to-live-feed info check Indymedia.
My hopes that all go home unscathed.

I was just telling Cory about this today – I also mentioned about how just telling people about this stuff on blogs, or talking to your friends every day about things you’ve seen primary sources of (like the arrest videos, cell phone pictures, etc) is so important.

ps. He said a lot of amazing things about the summer, which was cool, since I’ve read your blog for a while.

i was downtown St Paul on Wed of Convention week waiting to get into the Daily Show. I wrote a bit about the experience in my blog:http://chuckandcindyswedding.blogspot.com/2008/09/day.html
    A weird scene indeed….
